Oxford Brookes University Student Exhibition of Draft Masterplans
On Thursday March 21st, a class of second year undergraduate Urban Design, Planning and Development students at Oxford Brookes University unveiled their draft masterplans of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds Garden Village. These students have been working with West Oxfordshire District Council, Grosvenor Developments Ltd., Terence O'Rourke Ltd. and AECOM to undertaking urban design masterplan projects for the proposed Oxfordshire, Cotswolds Garden Village as part of their course. Prior to the exhibition, the students also attended community forums and site visits to inform their draft masterplans.
Four groups of students presented their work to members of the local community, councillors and West Oxfordshire District Council Officers. Each group presented an illustrative master plan, site appraisal, vision and design explanation for the OCGV site and also gained valuable experience fielding questions, providing explanations and justifying their decisions. Feedback from the exhibition has helped students to refine their ideas and shape the next phase of their course work.
Members of the Community Forum were also invited top the final exhibition of student design projects, including individual neighbourhood scale masterplans, held on April 11th at the UD Design Studio at Oxford Brookes University.
